After a break-in or impact

Focus on safe, temporary protection first.

Broken side or rear glass can leave sharp fragments, weather exposure, and an unsecured cabin. Avoid touching loose shards, protect the interior from moisture where possible, and document the damage before cleanup if an insurance claim may be involved.

  • Keep children and pets away from loose or shattered glass.
  • Do not operate a window if glass is fragmented in the door.
  • Cover an open area carefully only if it can be done without creating a driving hazard.
  • Bring your vehicle information and any visible glass markings to the conversation.
If glass has fallen into a door, resist repeatedly using the power-window switch. Movement can worsen the situation or stress the regulator mechanism.

Vehicle-specific identification matters

Door and body glass can vary by year, trim, body style, tint, antenna, defroster, and sensor features. Accurate vehicle details help make the service conversation more productive.
